    Modified citrus pectin (MCP in short), also called low molecular citrus pectin (LCP in short), is a water soluble small molecule fiber polysaccharide that rich in galactose and owning the structure of special molecular weight and degree of esterification. It is extracted from citrus fruits (lemon, orange, tangerine, etc.) by high-tech bio- enzymolysis technology.
    Gold Kropn Co. has close cooperation in process technology and functional development with many authoritative agencies and has obtained three Chinese national patents.

    Gold Kropn Co. enlarged the application area of MCP, and has built Asia's first MCP production line, successfully developed MCP series of functional foods to meet health needs of different people.
    FAO and WHO recommended MCP as safe component without daily intake limitation.

    As a natural ingredient with clear function, modified citrus pectin can be widely used in the development of functional food, supplements, cosmetics and medicines.

    Researches show that MCP with different molecular weight and degree of esterification has different functions.
    1.Compete with Galectin-3
    MCP can bind to tumor associated protein galectin-3, the key cell affecting tumor growth and metastasis. MCP molecule has a linear long-chain structure. After be absorbed into the blood, MCP can quickly bind to galectin-3 and block it[1].

    2. Improve sensitiveness towards chemotherapy drugs, reduce the toxic side effects
    The apoptosis-inducing activity of different structure of MCP to MDA-MB-231 cell is shown in figure1.

    Control group was treated by PBS and culture, A, B, E, F was treated by different MCP and culture. A was the MCP from Gold Kropn.

    The inhibition rate of MCP to MDA-MB-231 cell has been increased when combination with 5-Fu, cis-platinum or taxol. It is shown in figure 2,3,4.

    3.  Promote the discharge of heavy metals
    MCP can supports the discharge of toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc, but has no effects on the beneficial elements such as iron, copper, zinc, etc.[2]
    4. Promote normal blood sugar and blood lipid, support kidney health[3]
    MCP can accelerate the conversion and discharge of cholesterol through a variety of mechanisms, delay the intestinal absorption of sugars and lipids, activate sugar metabolism related enzyme activity, promote normal blood sugar and blood lipid, supports kidney health. [4]
    5. Support healthy cell growth and immunity, promote skin health
    MCP can form a layer of film distribute on the surface of skin, retaining water and moisturize skin. In the meanwhile, MCP can absorb ultraviolet rays, reduce the formation of melanin and whitening the skin.[5]
    6. Reduce alcohol absorption, support liver health
    MCP has good water solubility, which can form a layer of protective film in the gastrointestinal wall to prevent alcohol absorption. What’s more, it can activate internal anti-alcohol enzyme activity, accelerate the decomposition and metabolism of alcohol, promote liver health . [6]
    7. Enhance gastrointestinal tract health [7-9]
    MCP has strong water holding characteristic, containing more than 80% water soluble dietary fiber. It can prevent the dryness of stool in the intestine, relieve constipation,promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and help to maintain healthy diagestive system.
